School Daze

Hey everybody,

Today I am posting this outfit that I wore to class.

I must say that although the sun has been blistering here in California I've been dying to wear this plaid midi skirt that I thrifted for just $1. That's right $1. There is a consignment/thrift store by the name of, Jet Rag, here in LA. They have beautiful pieces from fur to leather within the store. However, on Sundays, right outside, they have an accumulation of piles and piles of clothes for only a dollar a piece. You have to really get in there and scour the mounds but, I'm not afraid to get a little dirty for the sake of style and this skirt is that. Today, I styled this midi skirt with a chambray denim shirt, strappy black minimal heels, and my vintage leather crossbody.

Denim Shirt: Target; Plaid Skirt: Jet Rag, Thrifted; Heels: Charlotte Russe; Bag: Goodwill, Thrifted; Emerald Beaded Bracelet: Goodwill, Thrifted
I wore a button down to match the formal level of the skirt but, chose a denim version to keep it casual for class. The texture of the skirt was a little heavy and it flared quite a bit as it went down so, I tied the shirt up to keep this look youthful and feminine.

To contrast the heavy materials of denim and wool, I wore these black strappy sandals so the outfit could be light and airy. With my staple black leather crossbody to match, and my new emerald beaded bracelet to mirror the dark green hues in the plaid design. This outfit is fun and flirty for a day at school but can easily be made work appropriate with crisp button down and some closed toe pumps. I think this is a great look for spring because we're transitioning from cold to hot and this outfit has a few aspects of both elements. Making it a great springtime ensemble.
