School Daze

Hey everybody,

Today I am posting this outfit that I wore to class.

I must say that although the sun has been blistering here in California I've been dying to wear this plaid midi skirt that I thrifted for just $1. That's right $1. There is a consignment/thrift store by the name of, Jet Rag, here in LA. They have beautiful pieces from fur to leather within the store. However, on Sundays, right outside, they have an accumulation of piles and piles of clothes for only a dollar a piece. You have to really get in there and scour the mounds but, I'm not afraid to get a little dirty for the sake of style and this skirt is that. Today, I styled this midi skirt with a chambray denim shirt, strappy black minimal heels, and my vintage leather crossbody.

Denim Shirt: Target; Plaid Skirt: Jet Rag, Thrifted; Heels: Charlotte Russe; Bag: Goodwill, Thrifted; Emerald Beaded Bracelet: Goodwill, Thrifted
I wore a button down to match the formal level of the skirt but, chose a denim version to keep it casual for class. The texture of the skirt was a little heavy and it flared quite a bit as it went down so, I tied the shirt up to keep this look youthful and feminine.

To contrast the heavy materials of denim and wool, I wore these black strappy sandals so the outfit could be light and airy. With my staple black leather crossbody to match, and my new emerald beaded bracelet to mirror the dark green hues in the plaid design. This outfit is fun and flirty for a day at school but can easily be made work appropriate with crisp button down and some closed toe pumps. I think this is a great look for spring because we're transitioning from cold to hot and this outfit has a few aspects of both elements. Making it a great springtime ensemble.

Mother's Day Outfit

Hey everyone,

Yesterday was Mother's Day and this year we left our cozy Los Angeles studio to drive up to my boyfriend's hometown to visit his mother. When dressing to visit a significant other's parents it can be tricky and it is important to be modest and clean. However, it is crucial not to lose one's personal style in the process. When choosing an outfit for this trip I opted for all white attire that looked casual yet chic.

White Button Down: DEB; White Denim Skort: Thrifted, Goodwill; White Belt: Thrifted, Goodwill; Platform Wedges: Thrifted.
I went for a sheer button down to keep the outfit breezy and classic in the California weather. The skort thrifted from Goodwill is about 3-4 inches longer than a mini skirt and not tight giving a nice bell shape without being form fitting. This really gives the look a informal yet modest feel with the all white keeping the outfit stylish and crisp.

I used a white belt with gold hardware to cinch in my waist and to add some shine to the outfit. I went with a light brown platform wedge to elongate my legs, keep the look dressed down, and add some height. I'm not a big accessory girl so I wore dainty diamond studs under my big hair. However, you could definitely style this look up with a statement necklace, some stacked bracelets or, statement earrings if you're wearing your hair up. I wouldn't suggest too many accessories to keep the casual minimalist look I was going for. This look is great for the fashionista that has trouble toning it down without looking slouchy.

Thank you for reading, have a beautiful and blessed day. Also, happy belated Mother's Day to all of the moms out there.
